This five-page path begins beside Alice’s riverbank, where an ordinary afternoon tips into pursuit. Jane Eyre then imagines leaving the rules of Lowood for a wider field of experience, while Margaret Hale approaches an industrial city whose air already announces change. Eveline pauses at a window before a departure she has planned, and the Time Traveller finally crosses beyond ordinary movement altogether. The sequence does not insist that leaving is brave, necessary or complete. It offers thresholds with different pressures and consequences. Keep one poem from each page and notice how curiosity, fear, memory, arrival and velocity alter the meaning of the next step.
